Because the study was small and involved already active, healthy adults, its findings cannot prove that intervals will produce the same result for every person—especially people with diabetes, prediabetes, injuries, heart conditions, or very different fitness levels.

The meaningful difference was not simply that participants worked hard. Both high-intensity formats were demanding. The interval workout included repeated changes in pace, with recovery periods between harder efforts.
